From St Paul To Grasse Ideally
located an hour away from Monaco, half-an-hour only from Nice, barely 45'
from Cannes, the village of St Paul can be proposed as a half-day tour (maximum
duration is 4 hours comprised between 8.00 am and 12.00)
from any of those points. As a full-day tour (maximum duration is 9
hours comprised between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm), St
Paul combines perfectly with Nice, Antibes or Cannes and Grasse. Made
famous as early as the 20's by the presence of great masters, such as
Bonnard, Braque, Derain, Dufy, Matisse, Chagall (who is buried in the
village's cemetery), to name but a few, the village, like a
thousand-year-old watchtower stands amid green rolling hills, the terraces
of which, are strongly reminiscent of the Tuscanian countryside. the
proximity of the Maeght foundation (a 15' walk from the village), largest
private Modern Art collection all over France, comforts the reputation of
the village as a very important Art community. Very
pristine, the Upper and Lower Valleys of the river Loup are real corridor
of greenery and freshness linking St Paul to the Grasse suburbs. All
along the way, that's an uninterrupted succession of quaint
hill-perched villages such as Tourettes, le Bar sur Loup or
Gourdon. Austere
and industrious, Grasse has some beautiful Medieval architecture and
remains the world's Capital of the Perfume industry. More than 30
companies involved in the
making of flower essences, synthetic or natural aromas, are based in
Grasse. Several traditionnal perfume factories can be visited. From
Grasse half-an-hour is enough to reach the Motorway. Conditions
